Installation instructions Race Catalyst
Installation of catalyst:
The catalyst is intended to be installed on engine sizes up to 4 liters.
Install the catalyst so that it is easy to disassemble for inspection, and that the test outlet is located closest to the engine.
Install in series with the muffler, if it is installed closest to the engine and then the muffler, there are no recommendations on the muffler.
If a silencer is installed before the catalytic converter, a silencer without absorption material must be used, as otherwise there is a risk that the silencer material will blow out of the silencer and into the catalytic converter, which will then risk being destroyed.
Heat-sensitive parts near the catalytic converter (closer than 80 mm from the catalytic converter body) must be protected with a heat protection plate to limit radiant heat.
Emissions:
When the catalytic converter is installed according to the instructions, the engine must be adjusted so that the correct CO value is achieved before the catalytic converter in order to reach the correct emission values after the catalytic converter.
CO must be adjusted so that at normal operating temperature of the engine and without load with a constant speed between 3000 rpm and 6000 rpm, it never exceeds 4% on carburetor engines and 2% on injection engines, as the catalytic converter reduces at least 50%.
Worn piston rings and leaking valve timing or other causes that cause the engine to consume oil changes emissions and can lead to excessively high values and the destruction of the catalytic converter.
Check emission values regularly, both CO and HC.
